Where to Buy a Monstera Bulbasaur (Without Overpaying)

Folks keep asking where to buy a Monstera Bulbasaur without getting chewed up on price. Fair question. I grow these in Lealman, right outside St. Petersburg, and I hate seeing a little rooted starter listed like it is a museum piece.

Bulbasaur is a mottled form of Monstera deliciosa. Cream, mint, and green flecks, not the big white blocks on an Albo. Speckle on the stem and a fresh leaf matter more than an old photo.

Where people overpay is resale. A clean 3 inch plant with roots and visible flecks should not cost collector-auction money. Ask for a recent photo of the actual plant. Skip anything tired or all green. If they will not show the underside of a leaf, move on. I have watched that a hundred times.

We ship rooted Bulbasaur starters nationwide from Pinellas County. Local pickup around St. Pete, Lealman, Clearwater, Largo, Seminole, Pinellas Park, and Tampa Bay, about 30 miles out. Free shipping kicks in over $150.

Real quick on the color. Bright indirect light. East window, or a few feet off a south one. Dim rooms wash the flecks back to green. A moss pole gets you more fenestration once it matures. Chunky mix. Water when the top couple inches dry. Half-strength feed in spring and summer. Pale, tight new leaves usually mean it is hungry. Wipe the undersides. Spider mites love dust.

Questions I get a lot:

Where can I buy a Monstera Bulbasaur near St. Petersburg, Florida? From our greenhouse in Lealman. Pickup across Pinellas and nearby Tampa Bay, or we ship.

Is a cheap Bulbasaur listing always a bad deal? No. Look for roots, a node, and flecks on new growth. Price alone does not prove it.

How do I keep the variegation and get splits? Strong indirect light plus a moist moss pole. You cannot rush a young plant.
