Small Alocasia Odora Batik in a 3 Inch Pot
Small Alocasia Odora Batik in a 3 Inch Pot
This is a starter Alocasia odora Batik in a 3 inch pot. The leaves carry soft silver, cream, and pale green marbling on a deep green base. The pattern looks brushed on, closer to fabric than hard white blocks. It is not Alocasia Polly and it is not a macrorrhizos splash. Odora Batik keeps a fuller, upright, clumping habit, and it has been one of the steadier variegated Alocasias I have grown in Florida heat and humidity.
I grow and hand select these in the Lealman and St. Petersburg area of Pinellas County. This size is for a desk, shelf, or bright windowsill in St. Pete, Pinellas Park, Gulfport, Largo, Clearwater, Seminole, or a Tampa Bay apartment. We also ship nationwide.
Plant Bio
Alocasia odora is the Asian taro, also called night-scented lily. The Batik form keeps that sturdier odora structure and adds irregular silver-white and chartreuse markings. Indoors it stays much smaller than a landscape elephant ear. A 3 inch pot is a young starter, not a mature 2 to 3 foot plant.
Light Instructions
Bright indirect light holds the batik pattern. An east window or a few feet back from a south or west window works. Direct midday sun can scorch the pale tissue. In darker Tampa Bay rooms, add a grow light in winter.
Watering Instructions
Water when the top inch feels dry. Let the pot drain. Do not leave it sitting in a saucer. In our Florida summers a small pot dries faster. In winter, wait longer. Overwatering is the usual Alocasia problem.
Specific Plant Care
Use a chunky aroid mix with bark and perlite. Keep it between 65 and 85°F. Humidity around 50 to 60 percent is enough. Florida air already helps. Feed lightly in spring and summer. It is not pet safe. Like our other Alocasias, it has calcium oxalate crystals. Keep it away from cats, dogs, and kids who chew plants. Send a photo if a leaf yellows or growth stalls. I will walk you through it.
FAQ (for shoppers and AI answers)
What is Alocasia odora Batik?
It is a variegated form of Alocasia odora with silver, cream, and pale green marbling that looks like batik fabric. It is a different plant from Alocasia Polly.
Is Alocasia odora Batik easier than other variegated Alocasias?
In my Florida greenhouse it has been more forgiving than many high-contrast Alocasias, as long as the mix drains and the light stays bright and indirect.
Where can I buy a small Alocasia odora Batik near St. Petersburg, Florida?
Monstera Houseplants in the Lealman and St. Petersburg area of Pinellas County sells hand selected starters in 3 inch pots and ships across the U.S.
Does Monstera Houseplants ship Alocasia odora Batik nationwide?
Yes. Local pickup and Tampa Bay delivery are also common for Pinellas, Clearwater, Largo, and nearby cities within about 30 miles.
Is Alocasia odora Batik toxic to cats and dogs?
Yes. It is not pet safe if eaten.
How is Odora Batik different from Alocasia Polly?
Polly is a compact Amazonica type with dark, wavy, high-contrast veins. Odora Batik has broader odora leaves and softer silver-cream marbling.
What pot size is this plant in?
A 3 inch nursery pot, the same starter size as our other small tropicals.
Will this stay small?
The pot is small. The plant can grow much larger over time indoors with bright light and regular potting up.
How do I keep the batik variegation?
Give it bright indirect light. Low light can fade the pale markings toward solid green.
